J������ 5, 2011 QIA PANCAKE SUPPER & TOWN HALL MEETING WED. JAN. 26TH The Quartzsite Improvement Association (QIA) hosts their extremely popular Pan- cake Supper on every Wednesday night from 5-6pm. After your dinner on Janu- ary 26th, stick around for a Quartzsite Town Hall Meeting! There is a Town Hall meeting planned for Wed. Jan. 26th at 6:30pm to be held at the QIA. The public is invited to dis- cuss town issues with Quartzsite council members. It is a moderated meeting and questions should be submitted on cards, which will be provided. Arrive early...meeting will start on time. According to Wikipedia, “A town hall meeting is an informal public meeting. Everybody in a community is invited to attend, voice their opinions, and hear the responses from public figures and elected officials about shared subjects of interest, although attendees rarely vote on an is- sue. In today’s heterogeneous communi- ties with large populations, more often, town hall meetings are held so that peo- ple can influence elected officials in their decision making or to give them a chance to feel that their voices are being heard.” In Memorium Gary Murphy Gary Thomas Murphy died on Thursday, December 30, 2010, just one day before his 61st birthday. He was born in born Chicago on December 31, 1949. He and Suzanne Black were married August 12, 2000. He leaves behind his wife, his mother, June Murphy, his sisters, Pat Walker & Sue Hicks, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, 2 great- great-niece/nephews, all of whom he loved very much. Gary loved the desert; was talented with plants and animals. His 2 dogs and 1 cat will miss him. His father, George Murphy died some years ago. A memorial service celebrating the life of Gary T Murphy was held at the Orange Coast UU Church, Costa Mesa, CA, at 11:30 a.m. Wed., Jan. 5. (949) 646-4652.
