It’s that time when people everywhere are de- claring their intentions for a better year ahead and a better life for themselves. How perfect are these teachings about strength in numbers. It’s been said, you can take one arrow and break it in half. But if you take 12 arrows in a bundle, it’s almost impos- sible to break any of them. Our elders teach that when we make decisions, we need to think of the next 7 generations. They tell us we need to be strong and to unify for the community as a whole. If every person thinks about what is good for the community, then we will always make strong decisions. Most of you know that I come from the advertising “side of the room”, as they say. This has created anger and frustration in the business community. The owner of the Desert Free Press, or Desert Freedom Press, declared on her blog that no business had complained about the advertising. I suggest that the seven businesses that I talked to protect their good name and contact the publisher if you don’t want your ad inserted. There have been calls for boycotting her advertisers, however I don’t believe that is a positive solution. Doing so just breeds more anger and discontent within the community, and it hurts our small business owners who are just trying to make a living. I want to thank all of the businesses, vendors and private party advertisers who gave me so much work for this issue. I’m so grateful for you all!
