February 6, 201 www.DesertMessenger.com Fatal crash closes Hwy. 95 Quartzsite Police Department reports Sunday February 3, 2013 at about 9:45 p.m., a single car collision occurred at 685 N. Central Blvd., Quartzsite after the driver of the vehicle failed to yield to a traffic stop by a Quartzsite police officer. The vehicle was traveling northbound on N. Central Blvd as it accelerated at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle crashing into a vacant house just south of the Grubstake Restaurant. The driver was identified as Karen D. Herrin, 59, of Quartzsite and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The accident is being investigated by the AZ Department of Public Safety. Services are pending. Hwy. 95 was closed most of the night while under investigation. The impact of the crash forced the home off its foundation.
