Twenty-two old and some new friends gathered to play a closely contested tournament. Three teams tied for first place after shooting 38's. Those teams having the low scores for the day were Richard Webb & Bud Key, Debi Jensen & Pete Lilly, and Brad Romaine & Con Smith. The next best score was a 39 shot by Bill Toner & Cletus Winkler who finished in 4th place. There were several holes-in-one during the rounds. Bud Key had one on hole #16, Pete Lilly on #17, Brad Romaine on #10, Bill Toner and Joe DelaRosa on #9. The longest Front Row: Russ Leininger, Debi Jensen, Joe DelaRosa, Richard drive for men was won by Russ Leininger Webb, Brad Romaine. Back Row: Pete Lilly, Con Smith, Bud Key, Cletus while Debi Jensen had the longest drive for Winkler, Bill Toner, and John Fullmer women. The closest to the pin for men was John Fullmer while Debi Jensen had the closest to the pin for women. AWC Personal Enrichment classes Quartzsite - Personal Enrichment Classes Available at Arizona Western College Quartzsite –January, February and March Arizona Western College (AWC) in Quartzsite will host personal enrichment courses in the months of January, February and March. Featured courses include Painting, Movement Meditation, Jewelry Making, Native American Beadwork, Gemstone Carving, Bookmaking, and an Introductory to Basic Computers. Art I - Painting- The Painting class is designed for students of any experience level who would like to have classroom time to work on and complete new projects of their choosing, or continue works-in-progress. Students may work in any one of three media of their choosing: Oil paint, Acrylic paint, or Watercolor paint. The instructor is available for individual assistance to students on techniques and technical issues related to their projects. Questions or techniques which have a broad benefit to the class will be discussed with interested students as a group. Thursdays, February 7-February 28, 2013, and March 7-March 28, 2013. 6pm-8pm. $40 Movement Meditation- Introduction and practice to meditation including still and movement techniques. As you practice the techniques of meditation you will discover the benefits to overall wellbeing and health. Monday, February 25-March 25, 2013. 9:30am11:00am. $40 Jewelry Making- Participants will learn basic jewelry techniques for creating earrings, bracelets, and necklaces for men, children and women. Students provide their own supplies and will need to purchase a standard jewelry making kit, beads and/or stones. Tuesday, January 29, 2013, or Tuesday, February 19, 2013. 9am3pm. $29 Native American Beadwork - Learn various styles of Native American beadwork methods from lazy-stitch, applique, loom-work to peyote stitch. Students will be able to pick a project of focus including hair barrettes, moccasins, belt, headband, or coin purse. Wednesday, January 23, 2013, or Wednesday, February 20, 2013. 9am3pm. $29 Bookmaking- Discover the history of bookmaking. Learn to create and produce your own book using techniques shared within the workshop. Supplies may be purchased directly from the instructor for $15-20 fee. Tuesday, February 12-March 5, 2013. 10am12pm. $40 Gemstone Carving- Participants will learn to use the power tool set to carve gemstone jewelry. Advanced students will learn and develop the skills necessary to create more complex designs. Workshop is geared towards both beginning and advanced level individuals. Students shall be provided with the use of supplies for an additional cost of $5. Tuesday, February 19, 2013. 9am-4pm. $60 Basic Computers- This course introduces the fundamentals of basic computer operations so you can plug it in, turn it on and have fun. Also receive introduction into Windows 7. The class is stress free and will make you glad you've joined the digital generation.
