6 MARCH 9-15, 2016 WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM 484-6200 www.upandcomingweekly.com Turn to our calendar every Wednesday and see what's happening! In 2015, Fayetteville Downtown Alliance undertook a market based 2015 Plan of Work for Downtown. With public support, desires and comments, the goal was to develop a holistic vision to guide Downtown through the next year and, along with specifi c tactics to link and enhance public spaces and assets, bring together a community that was committed to supporting and strengthening Downtown. Building the 2015 Plan of Work involved observing trends affecting downtowns, specifi c challenges in Fayetteville, opportunities as well as downtown stakeholders' feedback. Throughout the process the Downtown Alliance encouraged participation from our downtown residents and businesses through membership meetings and a community open house. The fi nal version of the 2015 Plan of Work set priorities for creating a fully connected and continuous downtown tapestry. The Downtown Alliance's 2015 Plan of Work put renewed attention on Downtown Fayetteville, with an opportunity to transform not only the urban core, but the City as a whole. Building on the successful 2015 Plan of Work for Downtown Fayetteville, the 2016 Plan of Work will advance the long-term framework for Downtown and identify catalysts for continued growth. Strong public and private cooperation on project implementation and policy adoption will allow the 2016 Plan of Work to have greater longevity and effectiveness. A successful Downtown will, in turn, create a more successful community that is both regionally and nationally competitive. The upward trend in Downtown Fayetteville's revitalization has resulted in signifi cant economic, fi scal, civic and cultural gains for Fayetteville. The remarkable growth and improved quality of Downtown in the past decade is due in part to successful public- private partnerships, courageous private sector leadership, and a commitment by the City to invest in Downtown's future. The Downtown Alliance encourages YOU to voice your concerns, desires and opinions as the 2016 Plan of Work begins to take shape, March 12 from 7:30 am until 12 pm at the Arts Council in Downtown Fayetteville. It is your support and commitment to Downtown that will make it a better place for everyone! WHAT'S GOING ON DOWNTOWN Stay connected to your Downtown...
