All programs of study are designed to provide competency-based knowledge, scientific/artistic principles and hands-on fundamentals associated with the cosmetology industry. The curriculum provides a simulated salon environment, which enables students to develop manipulative skills. Course work includes instruction in all phases of professional imaging, hair design, chemical processes, skin care, nail care, multicultural practices, business and computer principles, product knowledge and other topics. Graduates qualify to sit for the State Board of Cosmetic Arts examination. Upon successfully passing the State Board exam, graduates are issued a license. Employment is available in beauty salons and related businesses. Some graduates may pursue entrepreneurship and establish their own businesses. FTCC's Cosmetology department is located at 2713 Fort Bragg Road in Fayetteville. Services performed by FTCC students are available to the public at affordable costs. Examples of services offered through the FTCC cosmetology clinic include haircuts, hairstyling, perm-waves, hair coloring, natural hair services and a variety of other salon services. FTCC's nail technology clinic offers a large selection of nail services including basic manicures/pedicures, gel lacquer, gel nails, acrylic nails and other advanced nail applications. FTCC's esthetics clinic offers skin analysis, basic and European facials, exfoliation, specialized treatments for specific skin problems, makeup application and all waxing services. Enjoy a quiet, peaceful spa setting for your ultimate relaxation. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Thursday from 8:15 a.m. to noon and 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. and Friday from 8:15 a.m. to noon. Call 678-0160 to schedule an appointment. Advanced students in both areas perform the services under the careful direction and supervision of instructors. The areas of concentration for the five programs of cosmetology are (1) Cosmetology, (2) Manicuring/Nail Technology, (3) Esthetics, (4) Esthetics Instructor Trainee and (5) Cosmetology Instructor Trainee. The Cosmetology Department offers evening classes as well. Qualifying students are eligible to apply for financial aid to study these programs.
