A small ceremony was held as a celebration of gratitude to all of the people who worked hard to make the trail possible. Without the help of volunteers from Fort Bragg and the local community, the trail would not have become a reality so quickly. The idea for the trail was proposed in the fall of 2015. After scouting other trails in the area, attending a workshop in Elizabethtown on sustainable trail design and attending trail building days, Ranger Jacob Brown and Parks Division Crew Supervisor Jonathan Jackson went to work. Throughout construction, there were many individuals and groups that came out to provide support and labor to cut in the trail. FCPR established a partnership with The Bicycle Shop to provide input and assistance on creating a smoother ride. Trail access is located one mile north of Clark Park, traveling towards Methodist University (not far from the intersection with Eastwood Avenue). It consists of two sections on opposite sides of the Cape Fear River Trail. The first half mile is more technical with tighter turns and rollers, suitable for experienced riders. After crossing the river trail, it becomes a meandering woodland trail for beginners. Work to lengthen the trail and alter areas prone to erosion will continue with a projection of establishing nine miles for riding that will enhance the existing Cape Fear River Trail.
