J������ 19, 2011  LETTERS FROM PAGE 6 public employee, serving taxpayers, at taxpayer expense, you have no secrets. You are also, by law, non-political. If you don’t agree, it is time to move on. Why has no one asked, why, in October someone received a two week paycheck in the amount of over $5200.00, net pay after taxes? Why was such an amount not footnoted on the request for payment as to why it was so out of line with continuing operations? Why does the Town of Quartzsite Town Manager refuse to let the Mayor have the offi ce he is entitled to, by State law?? That is a FACT, not a rumor, or unfounded negative story. ARIZONA STATE law states: the mayor is the CEO of the town. The mayor is responsible for the fi nances of the town. So, why has no one asked the Town Manager why she thinks she can thumb her nose at state law?? Why are non-political employees being political?? Give us answers. What are they hiding?? To have good stories, one needs good information that is TRUE. Respectfully submitted Charlie Kukral ���.D�����M��������.��� QUARTZSITE CHILI COOK-OFF When the Quartzsite Business Chamber hosted their fi rst chili cook-off 7 years ago I don’t know if they realized how many people would look forward to the event. The Chamber has always done an amazing job and the cook-off was fun for young and old alike. When rumors started circulating that they might not host the event this year a couple of members of the Centennial Committee went to the chamber to see if we could put our heads together to fi nd a solution that would keep the tradition going. Unfortunately the Business Chamber decided this wasn’t something they could do this year but with their blessing the Centennial Committee has decided to host the Chili Cook-off. Cee and Tony Carnevale from the chamber met with Jerry and Michelle Lukkason to pass the torch and give us not only the information they had but also suggestions for changes that they felt might continue to improve this event .
