Thomas Thomas, 58, of Phoenix, Ari- zona is an amaz- ing artist, crafting what is the “World’s Larg- est Belt hopefully, Buckle” right here in Quartzsite! The 165 pound buckle was recently mounted in Main Street Trad- ing Post, just across the street from Pilot Truck Stop. Thomas worked over three months on the project. The Belt Buckle contains 18,722 carats of hi jolly daze parade see page 25 turquoise, 2000 carats of cor- al and 300 feet of scroll/wire work. Phil Bates, the owner of Main Street Trading Post, has contacted Guinness and is working out the details. Thomas crafted all the fa- mous jewelry for the giant bear in front of Main Street Trading Post. Thomas also has items for sale, such as money clips, light- er cases, and “normal size” belt buckles! Quartzsite-January in Quartzsite is like no oth- er place on earth! Deals and vendors display- ing their treasures and delights are everywhere around town! All shows have free admission and free parking available. The 45th Annual Quartzsite Improvement Association (QIA) Pow Wow Gem and Mineral Show will be held Wednesday through Sunday, January 19 - 23. Show hours are 9 am - 5 pm daily, located right in the middle of town! With over 500 vending spaces with 70 spaces inside and 43 under cover, 300 vendors are selling 75% rock related materials. Tyson Wells Showgrounds host the Sell-A- Rama opening Friday, Jan. 21 thru Jan. 30th. The 10-day show boasts 860 selling spaces on 25 acres! The 14th An- nual Hobby, Craft and Gem Show will be held Feb. 2nd thru Feb. 6th, with the 13th Annual Quartzsite Rock and Roll Classic Car Show on Feb. 5 & 6, 2011. The “largest gathering of RVs and RVers” is happening right now! Rice Ranch has 200 vendors. The Main Event, Prospectors Pan- orama, Main Street Traders, Quartzsite Show- grounds, Hi Ally, Greasewood and many more swapmeets are in full swing.
