be the main guy. "He's a big physical kid, strong, and I assume he'll lead us in car- ries and rushing yards," Bohannon said. Senior Trenton Durham (5-10, 190) will carry the ball out of the backfield and catch passes at times. At wide receiver, the Lions are looking forward to seeing the Hilg- er to Hilger connection when Cy Hilger throws to younger brother Rhett Hilger (6-1, 162). Senior Cordell Donnell (6-3, 180) is another threat at wide receiver. "We recruited him out of the gym," Bohannon said. "He's a big target with good hands." Junior Nick Pilkington (5-10, 160) also is expected to see some time at receiver. Up front, the Lions are anchored by seniors Wyatt Coffelt (6-0, 235) and Will Porter (6-0, 230) on an of- fensive line that returns everyone from last year. Coffelt will be left tackle while Porter will man right tackle. "Those guys will be the leaders up front for us," Bohannon said. "We have everybody back. We're pretty confident that we're much better up front." Two other seniors, Keegan Ad- dison (6-0, 195) and Josh Sandoval (5-7, 220) man the guards. Junior Sam Mayo (5-9, 240) started on the offensive line as a sophomore and will move to center this year. Porter played center last year but will be a tackle in 2020, however that does give the Lions some flexibility. "They're all versatile," Bohannon said. "We've moved them around a little bit in camp to create some flexibility." Coffelt and Porter will also play a lot of snaps on the Lions' defense, which plays a 3-4 scheme. A senior, Josh Schnell (5-10, 190) could see a significant amount of snaps, while a move-in from Cali- fornia, senior Liam Bailey (5-11, 195), also could play on the D-line. Addison also is in the mix on the defensive line. "All of our down linemen, for the most part, are pretty interchange- able," Bohannon said. The Lions will play four line- backers led by senior Lane Wilkins (5-10, 210). "He's the mastermind behind our defense," Bohannon said. "He's a 35 on the ACT and he's able to take the book smarts onto the foot- ball field." Durham plays an outside line- backer spot and is "probably our best defensive player," Bohannon said. "He can cover a little bit and he's a great tackler," the coach said. Senior Jimmy Duncan (5-10, 170) and Dann are in the mix at line- backer. Sophomore Karl Bontrager (5-10, 165) also could see playing time. "He's a kid that moved in during the spring, right before we got dis- missed for covid," Bohannon said. "He works hard and we're excited to see what he can do." The Lions are hoping to build some depth at linebacker this sea- son. "We've got some expectations for some other kids," Bohannon said. "But they haven't quite proven it just yet. We're hoping for some contributions from the younger kids." The Hilger brothers will man cornerback positions with Pilking- ton starting at a safety spot. Senior Hayden Knox (5-7, 148) will be a contributor in coverage in the secondary, and the coaches are hoping senior Chase Fultz (5-9, 150) will play a role as well.
