April 3, 2013 3 www.DesertMessenger.com Business Chamber readies for next year By Joanne Winer It seems that the "season" has just gotten over, or mostly over, and it's time to start thinking about next season already!! The Quartzsite Business Chamber of Commerce is already getting calls from other chambers and visitors centers from all over the place, asking for next year's schedules and brochures. They have been busy copying thousands of show schedules and maps, and will be putting together their event schedule as soon as all the dates are confirmed. In the past few weeks, they have been sending out packages of 100 brochures all over the state--already had calls or emails from Tombstone, Apache Junction, Bullhead City, Prescott, Grand Canyon, Superior, Kingman, Sedona and Glendale, and they have already been sent out. The chamber will be continuing to send packages as they are requested for now, and will do a mass mailing during the summer to every chamber in Arizona, and some in California, New Mexico, Nevada, Washington, Montana, Colorado Oregon, and other parts of the country, and also into Canada. During the summer when it is a little more quiet, the chamber gets a chance to catch up on all its printing for the upcoming winter season. They print up thousands of town maps, show schedules, points of interest, BLM info, restaurant lists, RV park lists, and other needed information. When everyone comes back in the fall, they will also have the music jam schedule, church schedule, transit van and much more information to print out also. Paul Winer will be redoing the huge business locator map over the summer that has been so popular for several years--it gets updated every few years to add new businesses and take out others that have closed. It is a huge job, but by this fall it will be done and ready for the season. Several new events that were done this year, like the Santa's Workshop Arts and Crafts Festival, and ATV Desert Bloom Rally will also be returning this year, and the Chamber is already getting advertising ready for these and other events that will be going on this upcoming season. If your organization is having a public event and you want it included in their Events Schedule for next season, please drop into the office or call and they will be sure to put it on the schedule. For more information, please call the Business Chamber at 928-927-9321. Town Hall meeting April 17 - 3pm Town of Quartzsite will hold Town Hall meetings the third Wednesday of each month. The next meeting will be held Wed. April 17th at 3:00pm at the new Community Center, 295 Chandler, Quartzsite. Anderson was originally appointed to her seat in 2010, voted in 2012 and has served on many volunteer boards in the town. Anderson told Desert Messenger, "It was a very hard decision, but after several talks with my doctor and my husband, we made the decision." The 71 year-old Anderson has been very active in the community, attending multiple committee/board meetings each month. She's been active in Focused Future for Quartzsite and La Paz County. She attended many local events (walking very slowly); such as parades, ribbon cutting ceremonies, children's events, met with dignitaries, active in Arizona League of Cities and Towns Annual Conferences, etc. Anderson said, "I felt I couldn't do the job I felt was necessary for the people of this community. I appreciate the people allowoing me the honor of serving them for the past three years."
