Not once did they make OPINIONS EXPRESSED IN LETTERS TO THE EDITOR DO NOT NECESSARILY REPRESENT THOSE OF THE DESERT MESSENGER. letters to the editor www.DesertMessenger.com PERSONAL POLITICS I've gone through the arrogant, petty and personal tantrums of Town Manager Laura Bruno and Council Member Mark Orgeron firing the entire "Planning and Zoning Volunteer Board" because of their not liking we followed Town Code. Bruno does not like that we went or would go against one of either her friends or an employee. Special favors are still the way to go from Town Hall. Orgeron has his fits when he or his wife get criticism or thrown out of a club or one of his very close friends gets into trouble. Watch out for his revenge. What we have here are two people who retaliate for not getting their way. I hope that both Bruno and Orgeron (and Council members who "follow" them, the majority right now) decide not to let their "self-interest and politics" get in the way of doing their lawful duty. For not one person can handle or dictate the job that needs to be done alone, nor legally can they. Don't forget, they are Government Servants. We, the townspeople, who 7 ultimately pay for all of these so-called government services are also their employer so-to-speak. We, the taxpayers, are all watching and paying attention. It is time the town manager and Council understand that they are to do what the townspeople reasonably want and need. Council meetings are to do "our" town business and be fiscally and legally responsible. Finally, it is not to abuse or take advantage of our town's budget in letting the town manager take the money instead of the benefits she waived. This is not standard practice in a small town. In an austere budgetary year of ridiculously raised town insurance prices and other costly limitations such as ongoing court costs, she should have shown a good example, not a "piggy" one.
