He'll factor in at running back, as will junior Palvinson "Jeff" Phizema (5-6, 135) and sophomore Zach Hull (5-5, 169). "Palvinson is one of those kids can blow the top off at any time," Craig said. "Zach Hull is a tough kid who runs really well behind pads." Junior Keegan Soucie (6-1, 173) could be an option at running back, but the Panthers would like him to play mostly defense. Sophomore Ty Lewis (5-10, 156) also could get a look in the backfield. Wide receivers The Panthers feel good about their personnel at the wide receiver posi- tions. "We feel like that's a strong position for us," Craig said. "We have lots of kids competing hard." The Panthers return senior Gage Weaver (5-9, 169), who had 27 recep - tions for 371 yards and one touchdown last year. "He has the best hands on the team," Craig said. "We have high expectations for him." Weaver is the starter at the X posi - tion — outside receiver — and senior Ransom Van Asche (6-1, 173) and sophomore Christian Ledeker (5-9, 170) are also listed at the position. Senior Tate Criner (5-10, 150) leads the pack at the Y spot. Criner caught 12 passes for 125 yards last year and is expected to take a bigger role in the offense this year. Chase Mills also will work in at the Y receiver. Senior Tanner Broyles (5-10, 171) works at Z and had eight catches for 85 yards last season. He and senior Oren Stafford (6-2, 178) figure to factor into the passing game in a big way, Craig said. Tanner Kear also is a wideout at the Z. "All have given me confidence as a play caller and really have made strides as receivers," Craig said. When the Panthers go to four wide receivers, they'll bring in an H posi - tion, which includes junior Elijah Cof- fey (5-9, 145), junior Gavin Henson (5- 9, 128), tight end senior Jordan Stewart (6-1, 215) and senior Eric Martinez (5-4, 185). "They're all kids that have really shown signs of taking that next step as receivers," Craig said. "Everybody understands the offense now. We had a lot of success this summer throwing the football." Tight ends The Panthers enjoy using tight ends or H-backs and senior Jordan Stewart (6-1, 215) emerged at the position last year after joining the football team late in the preseason. Stewart wound up catching four passes for 32 yards, including a 13- yard touchdown in the playoffs against Searcy. "(Stewart) can really change what we can do as a football team," Craig said. "We're more physical with him in the ballgame." Sophomores Brendan Lashley (5-11, 187) and Quintin Wilkie (5-10, 186) will get looks at tight end.
