COLCORD, Okla. — The Colcord football program is back in familiar ter- ritory with Austin Martin at the helm. Martin, a 2006 Colcord graduate, helped the Hornets to a 7-4 record in 2018, his first year as the program's head coach, ending two straight years of losing seasons in 2016 and 2017. Pri - or to 2016, Colcord had 19 consecutive winning seasons. "We thought (the 2018 season) was a step in the right direction," Martin said. "I was very proud of the seniors that graduated, seven of them. They bought in and hit the ground running. I'm proud of what they accomplished. I thought they set the pathway for these guys coming up." Colcord hopes to keep that winning trend going in 2019. "We had a good summer in the weight room," Mar - tin said. "We got a lot of our kids back. We had a big sophomore class that's now juniors and our seniors have really stepped up. We don't have that many (four seniors), but they were here every day and worked hard and did things to get ready for the season."
