Yes, a Valentine's event for all of the "sweethearts" out there. Let me first tell you why we are having it. Besides our annual Scholarship Fund, we've decided to start some new projects for the community with our basically new club of fellowship. The Rotary stands for conveying humanitarian spirit to the community. The international motto for this year states exactly that: "Service Above Self". Our Club has decided to make meaningful strides in such service to others. In the last few articles you have read how we have helped the Elementary school in getting items to help their garden project going. Since then we have 3 Rotarians (some of them Master Gardeners) who will aid the teaching staff in helping the children learn the basics of gardening, trouble-shooting the problems we incur during growing cycles and finally to encourage the knowledge of working, learning and eating from the fruits of their labor. What fun! Quartzsite Greeting Cards & Post Cards Cards for All Occasions! Buy "Made in USA"! Quiet Times 90 E. In the following months we will tell you more and more. Right now we are waiting for the final approval of donated land for the Rotary Cooperative Community Garden, learning where it will be located and how we are going to get it going. We are so excited to get this going for Quartzsite. The Rotary will donate tools, seeds, etc to get it started. Families and others will earn harvest through working the garden or by buying shares. We will first start with residents getting involved helping with the entire process. As information gathers, we will be happy to share the news with you. In the future, we will be doing other service projects for the community, please stay tuned. The "fund" for these community-based projects is officially called "BFFQ" (Better Future for Quartzsite). We hope you agree, we want everyone involved, families children, retirees, everyone. So, keep an ear, a heart, an eye…open. Good things are coming, with a little bit of work, with a lot of caring. So, this first event of the year is the Quartzsite Rotary "Valentine's Black & White Dinner / Dance", Saturday, February 9th, starting at 6 PM at the Black Pearl Restaurant in Parker to fund our "BFFQ". It is limited to the first 50 couples (or 100 people) at $50.00 per person. Your night of dinner and dance includes: Bread & Salad, Choice of a 8 oz. Filet Mignon, Chicken Piccata or Trout Almondine, a choice of Chocolate Cake or Key Lime Pie, including 2 glasses of wine. Let's not stop there. Every couple will leave with a gift worth a minimum of $20.00+ (or every single a gift worth at least $10.00) with our gratitude! Our Rotarians are selling tickets all over town, but in case you need information or directions, please call Violet Kiss at 927-6111, or Dennis Kuehl at 623-606-0053. Dress is Black & White (casual is fine!) Come have some fun, dine, dance and mingle! WE'RE BACK! Looking forward to seeing our Friends!
