Both of us read in another paper that the town had insurance problems, but the vendor was adamant about the town actually having duplicate insurance for a few days, not like the story in that other paper. So I called the town hall, and sure enough, I was told the town did have insurance coverage. I also learned that the rising cost of the town's insurance was because of things that happened in 2010. Didn't Ed Foster become mayor that year? Didn't he file all those complaints with the state and insist on the investigations of the chief of police? Could that have had anything to do with the insurance problems? The vendor told me he was real happy about the town holding the breakfast, so the vendors could ask questions and get straight answers. But he said he wished some of the council or the mayor had shown up. The vendor was also very helpful in explaining that the vendor rates didn't go up, like I read on the Internet, too. I'm glad to hear Quartzsite is not what those stories say. It was nice to visit with a few vendors who are doing well this year. What's up with the rumor mill in Quartzsite? Kuehn #22 Next to Bad Boys Cafe 208-431-0111 Mad as hell Dear Editor, It was brought to my attention about a letter to the Editor in the Jennifer Jones' Desert Freedom Press that the author Meredith Bachmann and Co. apparently, referring to my father as Elmer Fudd, wrote 'We were disappointed to see that the shriveled up, evil little Elmer Fudd is is still spouting off. We were hoping that either something poisonous had bitten him or that he had bitten the dust this summer. ( Fingers Crossed)." And these people say they are happy to be back in Quartzsite? I guess so they can spout their evil attitudes and keep the town in an uproar all winter then leave there hate and destruction behind for another year as they go there merry way. Of course my dad is not the only one they speak ill of. Joanne Winner volunteer's many hours each week, to help the community, at the Business Chamber, Community Thrift Store, or General Store. If these people would take the time to find out the truth before they write their vile letters the community would be better off. I can't speak for Joanne but if Meredith and Co's attention was to hurt my Mom and Dad well, it didn't work however I'm mad as hell. Does it feel good to pick on a couple of 90 year olds? When you go after my Dad you get my Mom too. As soon as I find out who you are, the rest of the community will know also. Sincerely, Carolyn Guthrie P.S. My Dad has copies of all his Letters to the Editor and anyone is welcome to come over and read them. Ham gathering in Qtz Quartzfest* 2013 is January 15th thru 26th, 2013.
