In conjunction with Rev. Graham's 95th birthday in November, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is coordinating a nationwide campaign. My Hope America with Billy Graham is an effort to reach people across the United States with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Following a simple biblical model, the outreach combines the impact of video programs with the power of personal relationships. Christians across America will open their homes next month to share the Gospel message with friends, family, colleagues and neighbors using one of several new evangelistic programs featuring life-changing testimonies and powerful messages from Billy Graham. My Hope: Songs Inspired by the Message and Mission of Billy Graham is a CD set to release in conjunction with this nationwide outreach. The tribute album includes 12 brand new recordings from some of the biggest names in Christian music including TobyMac, Newsboys, Michael W. Smith, Kari Jobe, Amy Grant, Matthew West and more. My Hope honors Graham and the message he has carried to the world and continues to share today. Each artist featured on the CD has a special connection to Graham and every song is a tribute to the message and mission he has brought to millions around the world. Toby Mac has shared the stage with Graham on several occasions, "Think about it, if you can just play your music knowing you have Billy Graham sharing the gospel behind you, that's easy street." Michael W. Smith remembers attending a Billy Graham crusade as a youth and as early as the 1980s he was asked to share his music before a message from Graham. His relationship with Graham has grown very close over the years. Often when Michael pays him a visit, the topic of heaven comes up and Graham suggests he is ready to go when God calls him home. Michael's response is, "Well, I kind of like you being here." "I get choked up when I think about it. I'm not sure there's going to be another Billy," he said. "He's still the most revered man in the world, even by people who don't share his belief, You even have atheists who admire him. I just think that's incredible." Smith and his wife are going to be personally involved in the My Hope America outreach. "I think we get complacent and we don't live on the edge enough," he said. But, "... this is the time to be bold. And I think you can do that in a non-threatening way. It can be pleasant and beautiful, and hopefully some great things will happen."
