Dear Editor:
There is hardly a family in the Cape Fear Region that has not been
touched by cancer in some
way — perhaps their mother, a
cousin, a friend or a neighbor.
It's true, cancer is a disease
that touches us all.
That's why it is so important
to have a nationally-recognized
cancer center right here in our
community.
Our goal at Cape Fear Valley
Cancer Treatment and CyberKnife
Center is to provide patients
with access to the best and most
up-to-date cancer care possible.
With a comprehensive range
of advanced treatments and
complementary medicine, Cape
Fear Valley is a hub of healing for
patients throughout the region.
While some components of
our cancer center have been
in place for some 30 years, we are continually adding new services and
technology to help our patients beat cancer. Our most recent addition
is the CyberKnife®, a robotic stereotactic radiosurgery system that can
treat cancer almost anywhere in the body, including the brain, spine,
lungs, kidneys and liver. Despite its name, CyberKnife doesn't cut at all;
it delivers tiny radiation beamlets from 1,600 possible directions with
pinpoint accuracy to destroy cancer cells.
