Born in Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Avery and Nora Batson Humphries. Mr. Humphries served our country in the U.S. National Guard. In addition to his parents, he was pre- ceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Todd McSwain Sr.; brothers, Hubert, Lawrence and James Humphries; and sister, Brenda Carrigan. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Oliver Humphries of the home; son, Todd Humphries and wife Michele of Boiling Springs; daugh- ter, Lynn Black of Patterson Springs; sisters, Jean Grass and Selena Shuffler and husband Doug, both of Kings Mountain; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Surviving Mrs. Price are one son, Nathan Price, and wife, Elizabeth, of the home; two sisters, Lynn Hambright Davis (Roney) of Shelby and Karen Moss of Blacksburg; and four grandchildren.
