At least it starts off entertaining until I keep running into dead ends. Fortunately, the guides are there to help if I ask them. Also, maps are placed throughout the maze at checkpoints. Sometimes in life, we find ourselves hitting a brick wall, and we don't know what to do. However, the Holy Spirit will lead us if we pray. " Isaiah 30:21 (ESV) says, "And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left." In addition, the Bible is our roadmap. It's the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. Psalm 119:105 (NLT) says, "Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path." Are We There Yet? Many of us have a certain amount of time that we want to complete a task, but when it takes longer than anticipated, we become discour- aged. Even a corn maze can put a damper in our mood, if it drags on. However, there is a sense of accomplishment when we complete a challenging activity. Likewise, if we find that our dreams or plans aren't coming to fruition as fast as we hoped, it's not time to get upset and give up. It's time to persevere and finish what we started!! Ga- latians 6:9 (NLT) says, "So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessings if we don't give up." The Aerial View Our view of our circumstances is limited and usually linear. We can only guess or try to predict what's around the next corner of our lives and if it will be the correct path. We tend to make a lot of mis- takes. However, the Lord not only knows everything, but he sees it all, including the past, present, and future. Job 28:24 (NLT) says, "For he looks throughout the whole earth and sees everything under the heavens." Throughout the Bible, God's lateral thinking and cre- ative ability produce miracles and breakthroughs for people despite their shortcomings. Therefore, we can put our trust in an omnipotent, mighty God who loves us. PRAY THIS PRAYER: "Father God, you are amazing. I am in awe of who you are. I will praise and worship you with every breath in my being. Forgive me for trying to problem solve without your help. Sometimes I have hit dead ends which frustrated me. However, my hope is in you, because you promised to instruct, teach and direct my path. I trust you to counsel me. Each morning please help me to learn more about your love. I come to you in prayer, asking for your guidance. In Jesus' name, I pray - Amen." Danyale Patterson would love to connect with you! Jeff Melton photo October 1, 2023 - March 1, 2024 T o h e l p keep the city safe and at- tractive, the City of Kings Mountain collects yard waste from residential properties in the city limits on a bi-weekly rotating basis. The city collects waste resulting from routine residential yard maintenance, includ- ing leaves, grass clippings, twigs, small limbs, trim- mings, and small shrubs. To continue providing ser- vice in a safe, effective, and timely manner, the city needs residents to help by following our policies and guidelines. Placing Yard Waste Curbside • From Oct 1- March 1- Yard waste should be placed at the curb for col- lection by 7:30 a.m. on your scheduled route day. Raked into a pile and left loosely on the curbside. Do NOT bag any leaves or place them over the curb- side into the street (this causes drainage to become clogged). The sidewalk should not be covered when using the area between the roadway and the sidewalk. Using a vacuum system, the city will only remove yard waste placed on the city's easement (Reference: In front of your water meter or electric poles). • From March 1-Oct 1- All clippings and leaves must be bagged and placed curbside for collection by hand. • Yard waste MUST be separated by type. Please take particular care to sep- arate grass clippings and leaves collected by a vac- uum truck from branches and trimmings collected by hand. • Bi-weekly, the city can only collect a single pile of twigs, small limbs, and trimmings from each home. The entire pile may not exceed ten (5) feet long, ten (5) feet in width, and four (5) feet in height. The city shall assist homeown- ers in removing larger piles of yard waste in residential areas only, and it must be requested and approved by the Public Works Direc- tor and shall be billed at a rate of $50 per half-hour (30 minutes). Prices will be quoted and paid in full before the city performs work. Rates may be subject to change. Items the city can NOT collect • Limbs exceeding four (4) inches in diameter or five (5) feet in length. • Stumps, tree trunks, large branches, large shrubs, and other yard waste generated by land clearing and similar activi- ties, such as clearing large underbrush areas from nat- ural or unmaintained areas. • Tree and shrubbery branches, limbs, and trim- mings cut by landscape and tree service contractors or other commercial work- men. • Yard waste co-min- gled with other yard waste or contaminated with non- yard waste like rocks, dirt, sand, gravel, and mulch, which can damage our col- lection equipment. The City of Kings Mountain's policies intend to keep yard waste collec- tion service running safely, effectively, and in a timely manner. It is essential city crews can arrive at your home, safely and quickly collect your yard waste, and move on to other homes. The attached schedule will be adhered to and only al- tered due to weather or equipment failure. During our heavy season, normally October-January, the route could be approximately three to four weeks. Thank you very much for your consideration and coopera- tion.
