December 19, 2012 www.DesertMessenger.com In Memoriam Luvena "Louise" Vaughan, 84, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Crossroads Assisted Living. She was born October 14, 1928 at Jericho, Texas to Newton Isaac and Bessie Mae (Shelton) Taber. She married Julius Carter Vaughan on January 15, 1951 in Henderson, Nevada. Louise had lived in Quartzsite, Arizona for several years before moving to Nebraska to be near her family. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, jam sessions, and Bible studies; she loved Jesus. She was always willing to give a helping hand, loved her dog Lucy, loved owls, and especially loved her husband and children. She is survived by her children, Brenda (John) Leachman of Alliance, Gary T. (Patricia Ann) Vaughan of Riverside, CA, Larry (Carolyn) Vaughan of Quartzsite, AZ, and Linda (Joe) Howe of Arbela, MO. She is also survived by her brother, Michael Taber of Daytona, FL; 10 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Marvin and Leroy, her sister Patty, and her great grandchild Dylan. Graveside services were held Monday, December 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Alliance Cemetery. Pastor Steve Hahn officiated. Visitation was at the funeral home on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the family present from 9-12. Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice. Ray was born 5/10/1918 in Lebanon Indiana to James and Minnie Howie. Ray was a long time Blythe resident. He and his brother Kenny owned and operated the H & H auto/Jeep dealership in east Blythe for 40 years. Ray loved the outdoors ad spent a lot of time digging and collecting old bottles, fishing, hunting and just driving in the desert. He was a World War ll Veteran. Ray moved to Quartzsite upon retirement and lived there until mov- Page 27 ing back to Blythe to reside with his caretakers Allen and Becky Hightower. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, siblings and longtime companion Dorothy Mitchell. Ray is survived by his friends and caretakers Allen, Becky and Stella Hightower. His beloved neighbors and helpers, Carl and Eva Rummans, Don and Abby Weaver, Larry and Neta Welch and a host of friends who will miss him dearly. No services are planned per his wishes.
