Dec. 22nd Quartzsite, AZ - Gene Ross from covenant Lutheran Church has again taken on the job of heading the Salvation Army Bell Ringers. There is such a need in this community especially during the holiday season and getting volunteers is not always an easy task. The new Salvation Army facility suffered a real set back after opening its new doors. A summer rain storm flooded the building and ruined everything on and near the floor. It required several weeks of closure for repair and reopening. Gene and his wife, Maggie decided to try and get support for a Community Unity Day. They now have enough volunteers from the Town Council, Church Community, Service Groups and Organizations, Business Leaders and private volunteers to host the event. All monies raised to benefit the local Salvation Army and to stay in the community of Quartzsite. With the help of local business sites, bells will ring from 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturday, December 22, 2012. The first day that Gene rang, he rang all alone. A local business man pulled up on his bicycle and made a donation and said "If it wasn't for the ringing of your bell I would not know it was Christmas in Quartzsite." Please come out, give from your heart and help your community. WE'RE BACK! Looking forward to seeing our Friends!
