Page 4 OPINION Hello Neighbors Hope you all enjoyed the light parade on Dec. 8th. Once again a big thank you to all the volunteers for the help, and to the Business Chamber for organizing it all. At the Dec. 11th Council meeting Will Power Inc. donated $1,800 dollars to the town and the Cenpatico Quartzsite Youth Coalition donated $200 toward the purchase of tables and chairs for the Community Center, a huge thank you to all of you. It is so encouraging to see the youngsters contribute to the future of Quartzsite, I have always said that the kids are our future. Take care of yourselves, your neighbors and your furry friends. Bye for now. I have been involved in most every parade since the first High Jolly one; as a parade worker, as a member of the Quartzsite Veteran's Color Guard and as a Ham Radio operator. I feel qualified to say this year's Torch Light Parade was the most thoughtfully lighted of them all. It was a fun night; the weather was mild and people seemed to enjoy themselves. A thanks to the people from Town Hall who cared enough to attend. Santa did a great job with the children there, as well as on the float. I'm sort of glad the children ate most of the cookies. Elmer London Quartzsite Food Bank gratitude Again Thank You, Thank You, to the wonderful People of Quartzsite! You have made Christmas much brighter for our less fortunate. And helped to put some extras on the shelves for future handouts. The need does not go away with the Holidays; it continues year round. We share with all in town when we get extra produce and bread. Our donated van has made it possible to deliver to folks with no transportation and to make sure shut-ins and seniors have that extra little need. Without our voulunteers who do the behind-the-scenes-work, this would not happen. So when one of them carries out your box or helps you in another way, Please say Thank You. Thank You Carol Kelley Food Bank Coordinator Candidate thanks voters I want to take this opportunity to thank all the voters who came out to the polls on November 6th. A special thank you to those who endorsed my write-in campaign for Constable JP#4. I appreciate everyone who has supported and encouraged me during the long campaign. This close election for Constable JP#4, really showed EVERY VOTE DOES COUNT. As Constable, if you don't want to see me knocking on your door, my suggestion is not to do anything which would cause the court to send me. I thank you again for your support and for giving me the opportunity to be of service to the communities in and around Quartzsite. Our Angel Tree is bursting with Angels ready to be adopted. Stop in and see the Tree and pick an Angel. And yes our store is open again, our wonderful Volunteers work very hard to keep it stocked. There are all kinds of treasures to be found. Again this is a place that is run by Volunteers, without them we would be lost. So hats off to those hard working dedicated folks. We have our Christmas Vouchers again, but only 50 so it's on a first come first serve/need basis. All of the funds the store makes goes back into our Quartzsite community. We pay our own utilities, taxes and insurance. The remainder goes right back into the town. Gas vouchers to help people, go to Shell. The food vouchers to the grocery stores. Propane vouchers to our propane dealers. We put up stranded people in the motels; we feed people when there's a need. We pay electric, rent, etc. to help folks get back on their feet. So you can see where your donations go and how many people you help by shopping in our store. So when you have an item you cannot use please bring it to use. We'll find a new home for it. And next time you drop in, say Thanks to our Volunteers and a special Thank You to Sharon for the extra help she has given this past year. Without her we would not have had a full time store.
