It usually starts blooming mid month and continues for 3 to 4 weeks. It supplies bees with large amounts of easily acces- sible nec- tar. On the newly opened blooms you can actually see the nectar droplets. The NC Honey bee on Yellow Poplar Piedmont is known for the poplar honey that usually is produced. The honey has a pleas- ant taste but is not clear like many consumers prefer. Poplar honey does not readily crys- tallize. Other woodland nectar sources are the American Holly and later persimmon and sourwood. It's still swarming time! Please don't forget if you see a swarm of bees in your yard you can call the NC Cooperative Extension @704-482-4365. They will be glad to contact a local beekeeper who will remove the swarm. The Habitat for Humanity in Cleveland County ReStore's Fourth Anniversary Celebration was a huge success. Sanford Neal, Manager of the Lowe's Planogram Facility, accepted a plaque from Dick Schafer (HFH Board President) for valuable contributions to the ReStore. Door prizes, light refreshments, and special sale prices were offered to the public. A HFH ReStore is a fund-raising division of Habitat for Hu- manity. HFH ReStores sell donated materials such as new and gently used furniture, house wares, building supplies, and miscellaneous items to the public. Profi ts from the ReStore go directly to help build homes locally (10% of undesignated funds to to HFH International to build homes globally). The current home we are building is on Cottonwood Dr. in Shelby and sponsored by the Shelby Breakfast, Shelby Lunch, and Boiling Springs Rotary Clubs. Honored With Pinning Ceremony Students in the Cleveland Community College Radiography Program were honored with a pinning ceremony on Thursday, April 26, in the Student Activities Center on the CCC campus. Ceremony speaker was Kyle Hentschel, Radiology Director at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. CCC Discipline Coordinator Radiography, Alease Rousseau and Clinical Coordinator Radiography, Lee Ann Mayse presented pins to each of the students. The ceremony concluded with lighting of candles and recitation of the Radiographer's Code of Ethics. Cleveland Community College's Radiography program accepts 20 students each year.
