February 15, 2012 Quartzsite election March 13, 2012 Quartzsite will hold a primary elec- tion March 13. Mayoral candidates are Ed Foster, Jerry Lukkasson and Jen- ny Miles. There are two open council seats with four-year terms. Candidates are Sean Austin, Starr Bearcat, Barba- ra Cowell(incumbent), Jennifer Jones, Bill Moore, Mark Orgeron, Dean Tay- lor, Joe Winslow(incumbent), and Pa- tricia Workman. Running in the special election for a two-year term, vacated by Mayor Jose Lizarraga, is Mike Jewitt (incumbent). John Prutch filed papers to be a write- in candidate. Quartzsite voters will also decide one question: Shall the Town of Quartzsite re- peal its ordinance providing for the direct election of the Mayor? Voters will select either yes or no. Voter registration deadline is was Feb. 13. Early voting begins Feb. 16. The last day to request a ballot by mail is March 2, and the last day to vote early at the La Paz County Recorder's office is March 9. If you need to change your mailing address, it's easy, just call the Recorder's Office. Or you can register online and check the current status of your voter registration at www.azsos. gov.
