December 7, 2011 ASSESSOR'S CORNER Series 1 of 10 The La Paz County Assessor's office is now preparing for the application period of Property Tax Relief Programs for perma- nent Arizona residents. The types of pro- grams available are: • Property Tax Exemption for Widow, Wid- owers, and Disabled Persons • The Senior Valuation Protection Option (aka the Valuation Freeze) for seniors 65 or over. • Property Tax Deferral program • Property Tax Exemption for Non-Profit Organizations • Arizona's Historic Property Reduction Program • Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act • Property Tax Exemption for Native Amer- icans residing within the boundaries of the Colorado River Indian Reservation. • Religious Property Exemption Between the months of January 1 and March 1 of each calendar year, the La Paz County Assessor accepts applications for all the tax relief programs. 20% OFF* 20% OFF* www.DesertMessenger.com Application forms for each type of program are available at La Paz County Assessor's Office starting at the end of December. During the application period, the La Paz County Assessor's staff will visit the outly- ing areas of La Paz County for your conve- nience. When sending in your Park reports, could you please take the time to update the name of the contact person and phone number on your report? "Special thanks" to the parks that always provide our office with updated maps and making our office aware of all current changes. Reminder for the Parks who have not taken the time to send all the necessary information that is required by State Stat- ute, for those who do not comply with the statute your assessment ratio could change from 10% to 21%. According to Arizona State Statute, Sec- tion 42-19154 Landowner's register of Mo- bile Homes and Monthly report: violation; classification. A. If a person permits a mobile home to be placed on land that the person owns, pos- sesses or controls in a manner that permits the mobile home to be occupied as a dwelling or sleeping place for one or more persons for Page 29 a period of thirty days or more, the person shall keep a register containing information that is required by the department. B. The department shall prescribe, and the County Assessor shall furnish, forms for maintaining the register. A copy of the information in the register for each month shall be sent to the County Assessor within ten days after the month covered by the report. C. A person who knowingly fails to main- tain the register or make the report re- quired by this section is guilty of a class 2 misdemeanor. Remember if it's here in La Paz County then it should be registered here, the bot- tom line is what are you going to do? If it's going to be left here in the park then put it on the roll. If you might move it then license it, but it has to be registered here.
