A public meeting on the project is scheduled for Dec. 14, 12 noon, at the Quartzsite Improvement Association Building, 235 East Ironwood Street, Quartzsite. The release of the draft EIS begins a 90-day period photos by Starr BearCat Live Camel a hit at Christmas Light Parade Christmas Light Parade a huge success despite cold By Joanne Winer The 9th annual Christmas Electric light parade was a big hit again this year, despite the cold temperatures. Many of the spectactors lining the parade route stayed in their vehicles along the sides of the streets to keep warm, but once the wind died down it wasn't so bad. The parade judges had a hard time again this year choosing the best of each category for the trophies. The winners are: Best Overall Travelling Trophy went to The First Assembly of God Church for their beautiful float of the nativity, accompanied by REAL donkeys and a camel!! They also won for Best Church Group. The Best Lit trophy went to the Quartzsite Roadrunners Gem and Mineral Club. Best Non-Profit went to Celia's Rainbow Gardens, Best In- dividual went to Evelyn Wisner, Best Business went to Silly Al's, Best Ven- dor was Grandma's Apple Pies (who also gave the judges a sample ) Best Youth Group went to Quartzsite Rec- reation Program, Best Classic/An- tique Vehicle went to John Hendrix, and Best ATV was Art and Becky Hastings. The Quartzsite Business Chamber would like to thank all the participants who entered the parade, and hope that next year will get more people putting entries in--it is so much fun and a good way to get your name out there!!
