SEPTEMBER 27, 2023 UCW 33 Best of Fayetteville Best Used Book Store 2ND & CHARLES 1920 Skibo Road 910-487-3356 or www.2ndandcharles.com/locations/fayetteville The atmosphere at 2ND & CHARLES goes way beyond just another bookstore. There's a strong sense of community within its walls. All readers, regardless of age, hobby, passion or title, can find a book of interest, and maybe a kindred spirit, amongst its shelves. There are two goals common to most book readers. First is finding a great new book. Second is getting it at a competi- tive price. Those are exactly the kinds of finds available at 2ND & CHARLES. The staff are eager to work with custom- ers in the buying, selling and trading of all manner of lightly used books — plus some other goodies, too. The inventory, in addition to fiction and nonfiction hardcovers and paper- backs, includes comic books, CDs, vinyl records, video game consoles, electron- ics, movies and video games. Check out the dollar specials and the free book bin. Fans of the business have come to the store to take part in pop culture events, game nights, cosplay, the gaming arena and activities for children. There is much more than books here. There's inspiration and experience. Best Library Branch Cliffdale Regional Branch 6882 Cliffdale Road 910-483-7727 or www.cumberlandcountync.gov/departments/ library-group/library One of the busiest branches in the Cumberland County Public Library system, the Cliffdale Regional Branch welcomes a diverse community and takes pride in serving each segment of that community. The library offers programs for children of all ages with a Preschool Story Time every Tuesday at 10 a.m., Baby Bounce and Tots every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and Toddlers Story Time every Wednesday at 11 a.m. They also host teen and school-age programs each month. They offer a variety of programs for adults including book clubs, business pro- grams, computer classes, craft programs and movies. The library even hosts a ukulele club every second Saturday of the month at 2 p.m. It is open to all ages, abilities and skill levels. The staff helps job seekers with resumes, interview skills and job applications. They serve as a hub to connect customers to other community organizations as the library is often the first stop for people new to the community or an out-of- town visitor. The staff strives to make the library a fun and safe place for families by offering events such as October's Trunk or Treat, the spring Future Fair and a Field Day that kicks off the Summer Reading Program in June. In November, they will host a pirate-themed Family Fun Day. Cliffdale Regional's goal is to be a comfortable and safe place for those who need one and a friendly face to those new in town, as well as those who have been around for a while.
