The theatre is back in full swing with new, expanded seating. Renovations include a brand-new sound system designed by TONY-Award winning Sound Designer Rob Kaplowitz, a new fresh-air intake HVAC, upgraded energy-efficient lighting, new flooring, new paint and upgraded ADA accessibility. Their productions continue to inspire and enter- tain audiences. Several of last season's shows sold out, and a few extended to accommodate demand. "Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story," "Matilda," and "Jelly's Last Jam" were highlights. Their new 2023/2024 season just kicked off with "The Show That Goes Wrong." Next month brings "The Addams Family: A Musical Comedy" before the holiday favorite "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." CFRT offers a variety of programs, special events and season ticket packages. A perennial favorite on our readers' Best Of Fayetteville list, The Arts Council of Fayetteville/ Cumberland County has been an essential force in our community since its founding in 1973. The gallery hosts a variety of exhibitions throughout the year featuring the work of local and national artists. Visitors can also take part in workshops, programs and special events held on the premises. It administers programs in part- nership with a variety of regional agencies to stimulate commu- nity and economic development through the arts. The Arts Council is built on the premise that art connects people faster than anything else and is worth promoting. Nonprofit arts and culture comprise a $59.2 million-dollar industry in Cumberland County, which is consistently higher than the national average. The Arts Council benefits from events like the Dogwood Festival and 4th Fridays that continue to draw visitors downtown to enjoy street music and art as well as local restaurants and brew pubs.
