T10 WHATS UP! September 4 - 10, 2022 Nandor's lonesome travels, meanwhile, have left him crav- ing love. With the help of both Guillermo and a djinn, he res- urrects all 37 of his deceased wives to enact a twisted ver- sion of "The Bachelor." Ulti- mately paying off and exhaust- ing nearly all of his 52 wishes, Nandor marries his supposed true love, Marwa (Parisa Fakhri, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."). This season has also seen Guillermo refuse to put Nan- dor's needs ahead of his own. Deciding he has neglected his own life long enough, the famil- iar enacts a "Guillermo first" policy — barring his duties as Nandor's best man, Nadja's nightclub accountant and Lasz- lo's co-parent to Baby Colin, that is. A sneakier side of Guillermo has also surfaced as he takes time out to support his mother and pursue what appears to be a secret boyfriend. How these developments — and the fact that he and Nadja are both skimming profits from the nightclub — play out in the fi- nale remain to be seen. Part of the joy of "WWDITS" comes from its willingness to lean into the absurdity of its premise. Often, the vampires are able to escape a tricky bind by the skin of their fangs, leav- ing the poor documentary crew to an untimely demise; an angle that comes directly from series creator Jemaine Clement ("Flight of the Conchords") and executive producer Taika Wait- iti's ("Thor: Ragnarok," 2017) 2014 comedy film of the same name. Both Clement and Waiti- ti have reprised their film roles as guest stars in the series. "WWDITS" has seen quite an impressive roster of other guest stars over the years as well, with notable cameos from seasons past including fiction- alized vampiric versions of Til- da Swinton ("Suspiria," 2018), Wesley Snipes ("Blade," 1998), Danny Trejo ("Machete," 2010), Scott Bakula ("Quantum Leap"), Donal Logue ("Vi- kings"), Evan Rachel Wood ("Westworld"), Mark Hamill ("Star Wars," 1977), David Cross ("Arrested Develop- ment") and Fred Armisen ("Portlandia"). Only time will tell whether the finale adds more names to this impressive lineup. Hulu subscribers can sink their teeth into all three previ- ous seasons of "What We Do in the Shadows" before tackling Season 4 in its entirety after the finale airs Sept. 7. Be sure to invite these vam- pires into your home when the Season 4 finale of "What We Do in the Shadows" airs Tuesday, Sept. 6, on FX. continued from page T2 A biting finale: Vamps close out fourth season of 'What We Do in the Shadows' TV FEATURE 5 x 5 Natasia Demetriou and Matt Berry in "What We Do in the Shadows"
