T8 WHATS UP! June 19 - 25, 2022 BY RAYE SMITH TV Media WHAT'S NEW ON NETFLIX "The Umbrella Academy" - Season 3 There's never a dull moment for "The Umbrella Academy" as the cast jumps right back into Sea- son 3, premiering Wednesday, June 22, on Netflix. After putting a stop to 1963's doomsday in Sea- son 2 and now convinced they've finally fixed their time- line and prevented an imminent apocalypse, the Umbrella Acad- emy returns home to the present day, only to discover that Har- greeves HQ now belongs to the Sparrow Academy. Smart and stylish with ice-cold personali- ties, the Sparrows and Umbrel- las immediately clash in a vio- lent blowup. But with new diffi- culties headed their way and an unidentified destructive force (that they may have caused) wreaking havoc across the uni- verse, the Umbrellas must con- vince the Sparrows to work with them to help prevent a new ca- tastrophe and attempt to fix the timeline (again). Based on the comics and graphic novels by My Chemical Romance lead singer Gerard Way, "The Um- brella Academy" is created for television by Steve Blackman ("Fargo"), developed by Jeremy Slater ("Moon Knight") and di- rected by Jeremy Webb ("Mer- lin"). The series stars returning cast members Elliot Page ("Tales of the City"), Tom Hopper ("Black Sails"), David Castañeda ("Sicario: Day of the Soldado," 2018), Emmy Raver-Lampman ("Central Park"), Robert Shee- han ("The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones," 2013), Aidan Gal- lagher ("Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn"), Justin H. WHAT'S NEW ON HULU "The Bear" - Season 1 Family comes before everything in the new eight-episode, FX- produced series "The Bear," landing Thursday, June 23, ex- clusively on Hulu. Facing grief and a moun- tain of challenges he couldn't have imagined, Carmen works to transform the restaurant alongside the business's rough- around-the-edges kitchen staff. WHAT'S NEW ON DISNEY+ "Rise" (2022) "Rise" to the top with the new biographical sports drama film "Rise," available on Disney+ Fri- day, June 24. From a struggling family of seven in Nigeria and Greece to the first brothers in the histo- ry of the NBA to all become champions, this story of the fam- ily's perseverance and determi- nation is equal parts inspiring and heartwarming.
