Christmas In July
16 comes in with a bang as the Johnny Orr Band and Johnny Folsom 4 perform in Festival Park, Fayetteville's concert destination. Gates open at 5 p.m. with opening acts might want some pocket money for beverages and snacks!
One thing we can all agree on is that it has been hot, record temperatures hot. With less than six months to Christmas, I say we start looking ahead to cooler days and maybe even a bit of snow. Maybe that is too far ahead, but it's the perfect time to start thinking about Christmas in July, which happens to be the theme for this month's Fourth Friday event!
Here are some more events to look forward to:
Fourth Friday on July 27 - a Downtown Alliance sponsored shopping extravaganza, complete with music, entertainment and a few thousand friends (new and old). Join the festivities starting at 6 p.m. Have dinner in one of our air-conditioned restaurants or feel the breeze on the patios, then check your list, and check it twice, while you get a head start shopping for the holidays
Aug. 4 with a route beginning at Festival Park. This is also the largest race in Fayetteville and the kids, wagons and dogs on leashes are allowed. Online registration is available and pre- registration is strongly encouraged, because this race does sell out.
Command Black Daggers, the 82nd Airborne Division All-American Freefall Team and the Golden Knights on Operations Museum. This year's annual celebration commemorates the 72nd anniversary of the Army anniversary of the museum. Other events include a performance by the 82nd Airborne Division All-American Chorus, historic re-enactors, parachute rigger demonstrations and more.
