Fayetteville's FireAntz open the season Friday, Oct. 28, against the Missippi RiverKings. The first 500 children will get a free T-shirt. Come early and enjoy entertainment, beginning at 6 p.m., before the game. Saturday, it's game two against the RiverKings. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. Head Coach Jeff Bes enters his second season with the Fayetteville FireAntz after previously serving as the Mississippi Surge's head coach before the team went dark in the 2013-2014 season. Bes also has an extensive professional playing background. He played 19 years for 19 different teams including eight with the Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League, where he was the MVP in '03-04, recording 117 points in just 64 games. Bes comes to Fayetteville with his wife, Emily, and daughter Ava. The team has been hard at work getting ready for the new season. FireAntz President Dennis Brewer acknowledged the team's efforts, "We're really proud of everyone's hard work as we get ready for this season to start. I'm looking forward to a great crowd for the season opener this weekend, and a fun year ahead as the team's new president." FireAntz fans are familiar with the many theme nights, fundraisers and causes that the team supports. This season the team will have a number of promotions. With 28 home games this season, the FireAntz see it as 28 opportunities to connect with their fans. So look for a virtual cornucopia of promotions from Veterans Night on Nov. 5, to Teacher Appreciation Night on Feb. 3. The Fayetteville FireAntz belong to the Southern Professional Hockey League.
