He told Gandhi to try to be in the first group; there was less competition there. Hailey Reineman belongs in the first group because extraordinary leaders are made and those outstanding leaders do it through their own hard work. At Vista, through her exceptional leadership qualities, she has maintained a 4.0. In high school, she plans on maintaining a 4.0 with AP classes, receiving aca- demic and sports scholar- ships, attend Oregon State University and join- ing the FBI’s forensic unit. Samantha is an excellent student and tries her best at everything she does. She makes Honor roll almost every session. Even with the added responsibility and stress of being a teen mom, she will be graduating a whole year early this June as a junior. Samantha is a docent at the Wm. B. Ide Adobe Historic Park. She is helpful in the Cal-SAFE Child Care Center and does her best to be a good mom and role model. Sponsored By: 11th Grade Daniel enrolled at Salisbury High School this school year after being in Mexico for most of his life. He spoke limited English when he started at school and was rather shy. Daniel has worked very hard and puts 110% effort into everything he does. Through his dedication and hard work, Daniel passed both High School Exit Exams and is well on his way to making up credits and earning his diploma! Daniel was chosen to be a docent at the Wm. B. Jonathan has a great sense of humor and loves to joke with staff and students alike. Jonathan loved participating in both our soccer and basketball teams when we played in tournaments. He is also a docent at the Wm. B. Ide Adobe State Historic Park and never misses an opportunity to help out. Jonathan also helps out regularly in our school kitchen as well as in our Cal-SAFE Child Care Center. He loves children!! Jonathan will be awarded the Elks Student of the Quarter in June. She has worked hard to overcome health issues and still get her work done. Sabrina is out on her own, which takes added effort and determination. Sabrina loves being a docent out at Wm. B. Ide Adobe State Historic Park working with elementary students from different schools. Abby is a 4.0 student and excels in all of her classes. She demonstrates her outstanding leadership skills as president of the Gerber School Student Council. She is athletic too, playing basketball and volleyball at Gerber and on AAU club teams. Other activities that Abby participates in outside of school are 4-H and Future Farmers of America, where she raises pigs to show and sell at the Tehama District Fair. Evan has a love of music, and especially enjoys playing the Alto Saxophone for the school jazz band. He’s been playing the saxophone for three years. Evan also enjoys being on the track team, playing video games, and reading. One day Evan hopes to write, direct, and act in his own movie. In college Evan plans to take classes in performing arts. Evan is a true leader among his peers and a role model of exemplary behavior and respect. He also has a quirky and fun sense of humor. Evan Gabrielle Pitman 7th Grade Gabrielle Pitman is a straight A seventh grade student at Vista Middle School. She used to play violin in the school orchestra, but now she plays clarinet in the school band. In her free time Gabrielle likes to read, draw, swim, and run track. In track Gabrielle excels in sprints, long jump, shot put, and discus. When she grows up Gabrielle would like to be either a triage nurse in an emergency room, a medical assistant, or a court mediator. She would like to travel the world some day to see how others live their lives and to observe wildlife. Kristina Horn 8th Grade In addition to maintaining a 4.0 average in her two years at Vista Middle School, Kristina Horn is a dedicated musician, with 3 years experience playing baritone in school bands. Recent musical interests include playing guitar and becoming a vocalist. Kristina has a highly developed work ethic, exhibiting dedication, perseverance, inquisitiveness, punctuality, and a willingness to take risks in whatever she attempts. She is polite, helpful, generous, funny, and a positive role model for her peers. She plans to attend a four-year college, possibly UC San Diego, and is interested in the field of psychology. Duggins 7th Grade If there is something that needs to happen at Vista Middle School, Natalie Duggins is there. A volleyball in need of a bump or a set or to be place deftly over the net? Natalie is there. A basketball which needs to be passed or rebounded or to arc gracefully into the basket? Natalie is there. A softball in need of a good thwacking? Natalie is there. An athlete that needs good cheer? A student in need of a helping hand? A tough assignment waiting to be finished with flair? Natalie is there. Natalie Sybrant 8th Grade Shelby Sybrant is an 8th grade student at Vista Middle School who has earned straight A’s since 7th grade. A quiet and unassuming person, Shelby has a great sense of humor with a high intellect and quick wit. Shelby is a gifted musician and has played the flute and piccolo since 5th grade. Shelby is also an avid reader, having read more than two million words this school year alone. In her spare time, Shelby likes to read, write, play music, and spend time with her friends and family. After high school, Shelby would like to attend California State University, Chico. Shelby Runnels 7th Grade Energy and determination can be two powerful traits when used together. Manton 7th grader Derek Runnels has plenty of each. Derek has excelled in the classroom earning a place on the honor roll each quarter, including a 4.0 GPA following the first quarter. Outside of the classroom Derek excels in a variety of activities. Derek was the Most Outstanding Defender on the school basketball team, plays catcher in Little League, and races bikes competitively. Derek also shows a talent in music with both the mandolin and violin. Derek has earned the respect of everyone at school with his honesty and quiet leadership.
