4A – Daily News – Wednesday, February 16, 2011 Commerce business The Destination Tehama branding project continues to gain momentum and sup- port. We have raised $53,000 towards our imme- diate goal of $70,000 that is needed to bring Roger Brooks back to Tehama County to begin the brand- ing process. Although the financial contributions to this effort are crucial, the overwhelming community support has been even more encouraging. These past few months the Destination Tehama Team has been very busy addressing various commu- nity organizations and stakeholder groups to keep the community informed of the progress of the branding effort and to keep the enthu- siasm growing. The other purpose of these presenta- tions is to help community members understand the importance of branding Tehama County to capital- ize on tourism as our front door to economic develop- ment. Increased tourism provides opportunities for entrepreneurs and small businesses. What’s more, studies show tourism-friendly cities spawn non-tourism indus- tries faster than others do. With a stronger economy, we all benefit through increased job and business opportunities. The support from the community has been amaz- ing. So far we have made presentations to the Red Bluff & Corning City Councils, Tehama County Board of Supervisors, Red Bluff Kiwanis, Tehama County Board of Realtors, Good Morning Red Bluff and the Tehama District Fair Board. At each of these presen- tations, we have received either private donations or personal endorsements for the branding effort from members of these organiza- tions. We are passionate about making Tehama County a destination that tourists want to visit. We are passionate about making it a more desirable place to live and conduct business, and we are learning that the members of this community share this passion too. Our goal is to raise $70,000 by the end of Feb- ruary, $100,000 by the end of March, and $200,000 by the end of June. We have the following fundraiser The Small Business Development Cen- ter at Shasta College and the Federal Tech- nology Center present a class on Respond- ing to an Invitation for Bid.
