2A Daily News – Wednesday, May 8, 2013 Community people&events Sesame Steak Nulls celebrate 65 years "Sunset - Cooking for Two", is source of this recipe for Sesame Steak. Toasted sesame seed butter enhances thick, tender steak, and it's also good spooned over baked or new Potatoes cooked in their jackets. Serve with sliced tomatoes, a green vegetable, and your favorite tart fruit sherbet. 1 large porterhouse steak, cut 1 inch thick, or other tender steak of your choice Salt and pepper 2 teaspoons sesame seed 1/4 cup butter 1 clove garlic, minced or pressed Jack (Harvey) and Nancy Null celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with a buffet luncheon, provided by family members, on May 5, at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Annette Null. There were 16 friends and family members at their celebration. Old family pictures and their original marriage certificate were shared. Their son Fred gave a speech recapping their years together. They were married in Vallejo on April 27, 1948. They raised 3 sons, Fred, Jeff (deceased), and David. They moved to Paynes Creek, CA from Vallejo, then to Red Bluff around 1959. Jack retired from Simpson Paper Company in Anderson about 15 years ago. Advice that Nancy gave family members was, "Take one day at a time and don't stay mad for too long. It's harder on yourself." Jack's marital advice was, "Whatever she says," as he nodded towards his wife, Nancy. The family feels blessed to have had such memorable family adventures throughout the years, which is a testament of their 65 years together. Slash at 1 to 2 inch intervals through outside layer of fat on steak just to, but not into, meat. Season with salt and pepper to taste and place on a rack in a broiler pan about 2 inches from heat. Broil until done to your liking — about six minutes per side for rare. As steak cooks, toast sesame seeds by shaking them in a small pan over medium-high heat. Through all its varied ensembles, the School of Music seeks excellence in performance, which in turn honors God. Male Chorale is one of four choirs offered at CBU, consisting of approximately 90 young men, and directed by Dr. Glenn Pickett. The ensemble, which includes a 6-piece brass section and a percussion section, provides a fresh and exciting approach to music in a variety of styles. This men's choir combines musical variety with a high level of performance in their ministry. Auditions will also be held for CBU scholarship opportunities, following the service for all High School juniors and seniors, and Jr. College students interested in pursuing musicat a 4-year university.
