Page 4 www.DesertMessenger.com OPINION Thank you to EMTs A BIG thank you to the Emergency Medical Personnel of Quartzsite! Jo and I have been full-time residents for three years and we love our community. Ive had to call 911 three times for serious medical reasons and each time the EMTs responded quickly and efciently got me stabilized for the ride to La Paz Regional Hospital. They have always treated me with respect and compassion. These people really know their job. Thank you and keep up the good work! Although I have moved back to Tucson my husband and I made Quartzsite our home for over 10 years and we care very much for the community. I feel EVERYONE needs to be reminded how hard she worked over the years updating the Library, the Recreation, After School and Summer Programs for our Quartzsite children, bringing the WAC College to Quartzsite, the amenities of the Town Park and ball elds with lights, the sidewalks, walking paths throughout the town, cemetery, trees and vegetation, the camel statues at each of the entrances to Quartzsite welcoming people to the community (and I am sure I am forgetting other things). They ALL have Alex Tafts signature on a grant she wrote in her thousands of off-hours while wanting to better and upgrade the Town of Quartzsite. Even the non-prot organizations in Quartzsite came to Alex to ask her to help them write grants to bring additional services to the community. In spite of whatever the negative issues and ugliness of the politics currently being addressed, overall the Town is by far a better place because of Alex Tafts efforts over her many years of service and EVERYONE needs to be reminded of that !!! It will take a long time before the Town nds someone as committed to the Quartzsite community !!!!
