ByBethHarris TheAssociatedPress LOS ANGELES Clayton Ker- shaw isn't sure what to expect from the new-look Mets, whose dramatic transformation in the second half of the season led to an NL East title. The Los Angeles Dodg- ers ace faced a mostly differ- ent New York lineup before the July trade deadline. Even veteran Mets infielder David Wright was out at the time. "There's a lot of guys that I'll be seeing for the first time this season," Kershaw said Thurs- day. "Definitely a completely different team. Obviously, a lot better than what we faced in July." The Dodgers aren't the same team that got chased out of the Division Series by St. Louis a year ago. They shipped out Matt Kemp, Hanley Ramirez and Juan Uribe (now a Met), and ushered in veterans Jimmy Rollins, Howie Kend- rick and Yasmani Grandal. When Kershaw takes the mound for Friday night's opener at Dodger Stadium, he'll be trying to earn just the second postseason win of his career after going 0-4 in his last two series against the Car- dinals. Johnson caught two touch- down passes from Matt Hassel- beck, including one for 2 yards in the fourth quarter, to help the Indianapolis Colts beat the Houston Texans 27-20 on Thurs- day night. Released by Houston in March after 12 seasons with the team, Johnson had six catches for 77 yards. The Colts (3-2) extended their AFC South winning streak to an NFL-record 16 games. Brian Hoyer, who replaced Ryan Mallett for Houston (1-4) in the second quarter, threw a pass up for grabs that was inter- cepted by Mike Adams with less than 2 minutes left. The 40-year-old Hasselbeck was filling in for Andrew Luck, who missed his second straight game with a shoulder injury. Hasselbeck may not have been 100 percent, either, after missing practice Tuesday with an illness. Johnson extended the lead to 27-17 with the 2-yard reception with about 10 minutes left. SWIMMING Mercy swimmers record best times By Michael Wagaman The Associated Press ALAMEDA Sebastian Janikowski remembers clearly the criticism Al Davis, then the Oakland Raiders' owner, received for making him a first-round draft pick in 2000. Sixteen seasons later, the Pol- ish-born kicker believes he's put the controversy to rest. Already owner of nearly every significant team kicking record and currently 16th on the NFL's career scoring list, the 37-year- old Janikowski will add to his im- pressive resume Sunday when he breaks Tim Brown's franchise re- cord for most games played. Janikowski, who has missed just four games in his career, has played in 240 overall and is one of only two players remaining from the Raiders' last playoff team in 2002. Safety Charles Woodson is the other, though he is in his second tour with the team af- ter spending seven seasons with Green Bay. "I feel great," Janikowski said Thursday in a rare meeting with reporters. "I've stayed away from injuries. Maybe six, seven, eight more years, you never know, I'll still be kicking." That would be fine with the Raiders, who have come to rely on Janikowski as their most reli- NFL Janikowski to set record for games played for Raiders Sunday: Denver Broncos at Oak- land Raiders, 1:25p.m., TV on CBS.
