Watch an entire Council Meeting or any City programming at your conveinence online at www.faytv7.com Parks & Rec Teams Participate in Community/Youth Day Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks & Recreation youth football teams and cheerleaders participated in the Fayetteville State University Community/Youth Day on Sept. 20. The event was held during Fayetteville State's first home football game of the season, when the Broncos kicked off against Virginia Union at Luther "Nick" Jeralds Stadium. Parks & Recreation youth football teams, cheerleaders and their coaches were recognized and had a designated place at the stadium to sit. Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks & Recreation offers a plethora of athletics, programs and classes at their facilities throughout Fayetteville and Cumberland County. For more information about Parks & Recreation, log onto www.fcpr.us. Whimsical Dogwoods Auction to be Held Oct. 16 The Whimsical Dogwood public art project is looking for a permanent home. Pieces will be auctioned individually on Thursday, Oct. 16 at Park View, 301 Bragg Blvd., beginning at 5:30 p.m. The dogwoods will be retouched by their artists and ready for permanent installation around Fayetteville and Cumberland County. Bill McMillan will serve as the Whimsical Dogwood auctioneer and hors d'oeuvres will be served. The public is invited; RSVPs are appreciated. The Whimsical Dogwood project was recently recognized during the Best of 2014 Awards sponsored by Up & Coming Weekly as the Best Local Community Project for 2014. Votes were taken online and through mailed submissions before receiving top vote in the category. Since early summer, the pieces have been available for viewing at various downtown locations and programmed for community activity with events ranging from scavenger hunts to photo contests. The project was designed to increase tourism to Fayetteville and Cumberland County. This project has been brought to you by the City of Fayetteville with presenting sponsor The Fayetteville Observer, along with a cultural arts tourism grant from the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County.
