The classes will be held Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at Headquarters Library, 300 Maiden Lane. Registration is recommended for all sessions. The schedule is as follows: • Oct. 7, Genealogy 101: Get the 411 on both electronic and print resources available in the State & Local History Room at the Headquarters Library. • Oct. 14, Genealogy Resources Low Cost and on the Go: Get the lowdown on the free historical research websites and apps. • Oct. 21, Organizing your Genealogy Research: Keep research organized and easily accessible. Stock up on tips for both print and electronic information organization. • Oct. 28, Preserve Your Family Artifacts: Learn the best methods for preserving a variety of family artifacts, including cloth items, furniture, jewelry, photographs, and books. Attendees are welcome to bring lap size artifacts to share and gather advice on. Presenters include Robert James, executive director, North Carolina Preservation Consortium; Arleen Fields, archivist, Methodist University; and Paige Myers, textile conservator, North Carolina Museum of History. One-Stop Voting begins Oct. 23 and ends Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. One-Stop Voting will be held at the Board of Elections office Oct. 23, 24, 27 and 28 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Oct. 29-31 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. One-Stop Voting will be held at the following locations Oct. 23-Nov. 1, Monday through Friday, from 12 – 7 p.m. and Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.: Cliffdale Recreation Center, 6404 Cliffdale Road; North Regional Library, 855 McArthur Road; Hope Mills Recreation Center, 5766 Rockfish Road; East Regional Library, 4809 Clinton Rd.; Smith Recreation Center, 1520 Slater Ave.; and E.E. The Cumberland County Planning and Inspections Department and the South Central Citizens' Planning Committee will present the Proposed South Central Land Use Plan during a community meeting Oct. 9 in the Gray's Creek Elementary School Auditorium located at 2964 School Road, Hope Mills. A drop-in session will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. with a formal presentation to begin at 7 p.m. The study area is generally defined to the north by the Crown Coliseum and Fayetteville City Limit line; on the east by the Cape Fear River; on the south by Bladen and Robeson Counties; and on the west by Gillespie Street/US Hwy 301 (I-95 Business).
