With an event (or two) every weekend until Christmas, we are loving the crowds, the excitement and, of course, all of the fun things to do in Fayetteville! Here is a sneak peek of what to expect: International Folk Festival – This event is not only a Fayetteville favorite, but it's a regional one as well being named as a Top 20 Southeastern event more than once! Starting with a 4th Friday with an International flair, then celebrating our melting pot of cultures with a Parade of Colors on Saturday along with food trucks representing various countries, music, entertainment, dance and much more! You will not want to miss this over the weekend! Reading Rocks! - On Oct. 18, all Cumberland County schools are represented as they march through Downtown Fayetteville in a sea of t-shirts to promote literacy and raise money for books and educational materials. Dogwood Fall Festival – New this year to Downtown Fayetteville, the folks behind the Dogwood Festival, are bringing much buzz to Halloween activities on Oct. 23-25 as they feature not only their traditional Historic Haunting hayrides and support the 4th Friday Zombie Walk, but also are hosting the LaFayette Asylym haunted house tour (super scary!), the Boo & Brew beer garden, live music, kid's activities, a food truck rodeo and more! When Pigs Fly All American BBQ Festival and 5K – Our friends at Communities in Schools of Cumberland County are bringing back the best in BBQ, bluegrass and beer as they kick off Nov. 14 with a VIP "Preheat" and extend the fun for the general public on Nov. 15 with a NC BBQ Association competition, 5K, music and tons of sampling! Downtown Fayetteville Trick or Treat! – Bring your little ghosties and goblins downtown for a safe, family-friendly good time with downtown merchants giving the tricks and treats to the area children on Halloween, Oct. 31. New this year, the Downtown Alliance is also adding opportunities for photos of your children (in costume!!) and activity booths sponsored by local businesses. Win-win! Downtown Fayetteville Christmas Open House – Stores will be showcasing the BEST in all things for Christmas so get downtown for a preview weekend and check your list twice the weekend of Nov. 14-16. More details ahead on this one, but go ahead and make plans to shop locally this Christmas season! A Dickens Holiday – Held the day after Thanksgiving, this old fashioned Christmas celebration will warm the heart complete with carolers, a candlelight procession and Victorian costuming. This is another Fayetteville favorite hosted by the Arts Council with the Downtown Alliance.
