Isaiah 58 Project receives $68,000 to pay back taxes By Pastor Mike Hobby Church of the Isaiah 58 Project of Arizona released a press report in May 2014, stating that the church must pay approximately $68,000 to the La Paz County Treasurer's Offi ce for what many believe was an illegal tax. Having exhausted all legal avenues, including the Arizona Supreme Court, no court was willing to hear Isaiah 58's case, since they had the option of paying the taxes and then suing to get them back. Unfortu- nately, they had no means to pay the unfair tax. By the end of May, the deadline was clear. Pay by June 15, 2014 or face foreclosure. The amount seemed insurmountable. The church never lost confi dence in the Scripture Isaiah 58:9 Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am.... True to His Word, God has been faithful. As word spread about the needs of the church and the conse- quences being faced, the funds began to fl ow in from Christian friends here in Arizona and from all across the country, more than 60% from strangers. I am pleased to report that it is through your gener- osity that God raised the funds needed to pay the taxes owed. On June 9, 2014, I went to the La Paz County Treasurer's Offi ce. Our outstanding balance is $0.00, as it should have been all along. The church could not have done this without your prayers and donations. Because of your generosity, our church will continue not only to preach the Gos- pel, but also to feed, clothe, care for, and outreach to the homeless and to those less fortunate than we are.
