According to research published by Americans for the Arts, children who regularly participate in a com- prehensive arts program are four- times more likely to be elected to class offi ce, four-times more likely to be in a math or science fair, and four-times more likely to win an award for writing. If you believe that participation in the arts can enhance a child’s life, consider sponsoring a child this summer. How? Stop by the AWC Quartzsite Learning Center and sign up to be a sponsor by completing a Spon- sor Billing Request Form. Once the child registers, you will receive a bill for the tuition ($27.50). An- other option for helping with the art program is to simply donate $5.00 for materials. These donations will allow chil- dren participating in the Town of Quartzsite Recreation Department Summer Program to take a class in either Art or Jewelry Making. The AWC Quartzsite Learning Center is located at 695 N. Kofa Ave. in Quartzsite. For more infor- mation, you can call the center at (928) 927-8299. We’d like to thank Brenda of Hardies Beads & Jewelry and Judy Nacheff who have already become sponsors! Our goal is to fi nd spon- sors for 20 children by June 6th, and we still have a ways to go. Please call today!
