J 1, 2011 THE EATERY HOLDS DESSERT NIGHTS TO HELP LOCAL CHARITIES By Joanne Winer The Eatery, part of the Main Street Laundromat at 205 E. Main Street in Quartzsite, is trying to help local non- profts by holding a Dessert Night once a week on Wednesday nights from 6- 8 p.m. They are calling it their Com- munity Outreach Social, and any non- proft organization can benefi t from it. The social consists of a variety of des- serts for $2.50 each, with 50 cents of each dessert donated to the non-profi t that is designated for that evening. Two of the non-profi ts that have ben- efi tted so far are the First Assembly of God Church and Paw Power Animal Shelter. Both evenings were very suc- cessful. Members of the non-profi ts help serve the desserts, and any tips or donations are given to the non-profi ts as well as the 50 cents from each des- sert served. The next dessert night will be June 1, and it will benefi t Q.A.C. They are trying to raise money for the Activ- ity Center planned for the town park. After that, on June 8, Operation Hero Comfort will serve desserts to help raise money to send care packages to the troops. June 15th proceeds the Ar- izona Centennial of Quartzsite. Come on out to The Eatery and have some great desserts and help these wonderful organizations raise some much needed funds to help them with their projects!!! Thanks to Michelle and Jerry Luk- kasson for coming up with this idea to help their community!!
