Betty Crenshaw, Owner .DM. THE PEOPLE’S VOICE BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL QUARTZSITE! Faded paint says a lot about the ne- glect of a place, be it a barn, a house, or an old car. The simple act of restoring color restores the spirit as well, and so it is with our newly nurtured “Q” here in Quartzsite. That bright white “Q” glistens in the sun, standing out even more with every sunset. When my grand children run and play at the base of the mountain, I marvel at how it came to be restored and tell them about the dedicated town folk who hiked up that mountain with all those supplies. Their eyes grow big with pride to know that grammas and grampas joined in that journey to keep Quartzsite bold and beautiful. Cowell, Quartzsite IT’S WAY PAST TIME It’s way past time to be mad about this poor excuse of a “mayor?”Why do our council worry about what the hell the Goldwater Institute says about how we run our Town? For instance the State of Arizona says it’s up to the Towns to allow fi reworks-that means in my mind that the Towns can set their own rules. So why can’t we say that if a so-called candidate owes our Town money that they will not pay, why should they be put in charge of running our Town? Also, I have a big problem with people that are not property owners, why should they be in charge of our Town fi nances? All they have to do is hook- up to their junky trailers and move out. Good example is one of the so-called lady that claims residency who every- body knows is gone most of the year and cannot control herself at any public meeting. Our “mayor?” has a wonderful opportunity to withdraw from his posi- tion, but he probably won’t because of the $400 per month that he probably needs to live on. Besides, where would he go? Besides who would care? It’s way past time to fi ght these dissi- dents who threaten us with all kinds of legal action. I tend to think that the few A 20, 2011 dissidents have made it their life’s work to try to take over small towns. I cannot say enough regarding our current Council, Town Manager, Police Chief and his offi cers, and Al Johnson who has raised the standard of living in Quartzsite. I sincerely wish that I could continue serving our Town, but alas, health reasons have caught up with me. Wes Huntley, Quartzsite IT’S UP TO YOU I have lived in Quartzsite since 1996. It was a wonderful nice place to live. You notice I said, “was”. The issue that makes Quartzsite a bad place to live has just recently happened in the last two years. There’s a group of people out there that is out to destroy the town. They’re out there raising a ruckus because of their own personal reasons. Because they have not the maturity or decency of mind to admit that they have done something wrong or have violated town regulations. Regulations are there for a reason; to make our town a safe and pleasant place to live. When our winter visitors come for the season, or when people drive through our town, it’s necessary to be pleasant in appearance. We want to attract people to our local stores and businesses, not just locals, but anyone  SEE LETTERS ON PAGE 5 Beth Evans and Janna Richardson formerly of Desert Rose Salon Sandy, Sheryl, Judy and Debbie, we are pleased to have FULL SERVICE HAIR CARE Along with stylists Jo is also back for nails and pedicures. at Cactus Curlers Salon. 928-927-5400 PUBLIC NOTICE: WHEN YOU REGISTER TO VOTE You are declaring yourself a resident of La Paz County and the State of Arizona.
