Jan Stivers of Quartzsite is a certified Zumba Fitness instructor and is licensed by Zumba Fitness to teach their program. Jan is a spry 61 year old and became excited about the Zumba Fitness pro- gram when taking classes in Idaho this past summer. “When I lost 17 pounds and two pant sizes without dieting I knew this program was for me. I en- joyed the classes so much I wanted to go everyday.” The Zumba® program fuses hypnot- ic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. Our goal is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, to get hooked. Zumba® Fanatics achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life! The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you’ve got a Zumba® class! As of May 2010, the Zumba® pro- gram is being taught at over 60,000 locations in 105 countries, has sold millions of DVDs, and has changed the lives of Zumba® Fanatics worldwide with an astonishing 7.5 million par- ticipants taking Zumba classes every week. Outbreaks of Canine Distemper in AZ In recent weeks several cit- ies in Arizona have seen a rise in incidences of canine distemper. Flagstaff, Kingman, Parker, Lake Havasu City, and Quartzsite all re- port cases of the disease. This par- ticular strain of the disease has the greatest impact on puppies, under the age of six months. Puppies that have been immunized for the disease may still fall victim to it’s’ effects. Symptoms’ of the disease are: 1. Discharge from the eyes and mouth 2. Coughing 3. Muscle and respiratory spasms 4. Loss of appetite 5. Rapid weight loss The Western Arizona Humane Society is working with the Uni- versity of Oklahoma to identify the strain of distemper since it only affects puppies. It is believed that this strain is being introduced by wildlife. To date, no incidence of the disease in cats has been re- ported. Your best defense is to have your puppies immunized as soon as General Store Quartzsite Desert Messenger has FREE Classified Ads for items under $999!
