S 15, 2010 Quartzsite Art Guild News QUARTZSITE- Our last meeting on the 2nd of Sept., I could not attend due to the shocking discovery of the death of one of our art members, George Hurd. I had to call 911 to report it Thursday night. We are all so sad of this news. George Hurd was known as the RV artist as he painted small sized paintings for RV’s. We hope to have some of his paintings for our up-coming art show Fri-Sat. Thanksgiving weekend for a memorial to him. We will miss him. He was a very talented artist. The meeting was changed and they discussed the paintings for the Quartz- site Centennial Celebration coming up that we artists will be painting to display around the town of Quartz- site. They also talked about the news of George’s sudden death, but he died peacefully in his sleep. Next meeting on the 16th of Sept. at 6:30 PM Senior Center will be learning how to do a reverse paint- ing on glass. Dinise Ross will be instructing us on the technique. You will need to bring a piece of glass with a drawing with a sharpie marker on the back side so it has to be in reverse. We will be using oil paints. Also be sure to stop in at Horizon Community Bank to see the beau- tiful paintings of Nancy Burrows. She does desert landscapes and other subjects too in acrylics. She will be showing there till October 15. Call me if you have any questions.
