33 Discover Venice The Venice Symphony celebrates 50th season Staff Report T he Venice Symphony recently announced a special 2023-24 schedule to commemorate its 50th anniversary year. In addition to the highly anticipated annual fall concert series, the symphony will lead a year-long array of public engagements and initiatives throughout the community. "For over 50 years, the Symphony has thrived thanks to the unwavering commitment of our patrons, volunteers and community members," said Christine Kasten, president and CEO of The Venice Symphony. "Venice and its vibrant neighboring towns have played an integral role in our organization's journey. On behalf of the Symphony, we deeply appreciate decades-long support from our community and only find it fitting to celebrate this significant milestone together." The mission of The Venice Symphony is to inspire and transform lives through exceptional musical experiences. During its year-long celebration, the symphony seeks to unite the community through music and encourage interested people who may not currently be involved with the organization to join as leaders, partners and volunteers, thereby building on its decades-long success for another 50 years. The symphony's community engagements were scheduled to begin with a concert ticket giveaway at one of Venice's popular annual events, The Sertoma Club of Venice's Sun Fiesta. Shortly thereafter, the symphony's 50th anniversary concert season was to kick off on Nov. 17 with the premiere of 'A Symphony Fantastic!', featuring Hector Berlioz's epic and dramatic Symphonie Fantastique. Below is a look at The Venice Symphony's upcoming initiatives, open for public participation: · Nov. 25 o Venice Symphony performers, in collaboration with the Venice Symphony's Youth Orchestra, will perform a curated lineup of modern and classical holiday covers during the city of Venice's 2023 Holiday Parade. · Jan. 5 o The Venice Symphony's Annual Venetian Nights Gala will formally observe the beginning of their 2024 anniversary year. Additional engagements, thanks to support from the city of Venice, Venice MainStreet, and other notable community organizations, will be announced as new developments take place.
