Two events highlight Venice Art Center's seon PHOTO BY ED SCOTT Artist Jeff Cornell gives his works generously to the Venice Art Center's Annual Art Auction. Staff Report M ore than 75 local artists are expected to participate in the 23rd annual Fine Arts Show and Sale, which will be held Feb. 17-18 at the Venice Art Center. Sponsored by Patrick Air, this show will include all media. It's an event featuring fine arts. Participating artists sign up in advance. "It's the best of the best local artisans selling their best work," said Mary Moscatelli, CEO of the VAC. "The Fine Arts Show is a great way to support local artists and also to find some incredibly unique things for your home." Admission is $4 for members, $5 for non-members. Enjoy the outdoor café. Annual Art Auction Every year local artists create an array of work that they display and, hopefully, sell. But many artists create works they designate for a different purpose. They donate it to the Venice Art Center's Annual Art Auction. "It's a great place to get really high-quality artwork because a lot of these artists just want to keep producing art but they have so much surplus at home that they donate it to us to support our programs," Moscatelli said. "You can find some of the most exquisite artwork at the auction for an incredible price. Jeff Cornell is one of the artists Moscatelli says has donated aplenty. "He's got amazing stuff and he's been so generous at the auction," Moscatelli said. "Also Linda Larish has donated a lot of artwork to the auction," including her father's pieces. Bidding for this silent auction of donated artwork will begin at 9 a.m. on Feb. 23 and conclude at 6 p.m. on March 6 at the VAC. Sponsored by Jimco Maintenance, the event includes a reception on March 6 from 5-7 p.m. at the VAC. For more information about either event, call 941-485-7136. 08 Discover Venice
