T8 WHATS UP! March 12 - 18, 2023 BY RAYE SMITH TV Media WHAT'S NEW ON NETFLIX "Shadow and Bone" - Sea- son 2 The stories from author Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse spring to life once more when Season 2 of the fantasy drama "Shad- ow and Bone" premieres Thursday, March 16, on Netf- lix. As the story picks back up, the protagonist, Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li, "Last Night in Soho," 2021) is on the run — a beacon of hope to some and a suspected traitor to others. Alina is determined to bring down the Shadow Fold and save Ravka from ruin, but Gen. Kirigan (Ben Barnes, "The Punisher") has returned to finish what he started and, with an army of seemingly in- destructible shadow monsters and fearsome new Grisha re- cruits, he's more dangerous than ever. To stand a chance at fighting back, Alina and Mal (Archie Renaux, "The Great- est Beer Run Ever," 2022) must rally their own allies and em- bark on a journey for two mythical creatures that can amplify Alina's powers. Exec- utive produced by Bardugo, the series is also executive produced by co-showrunners and writers Eric Heisserer ("Arrival," 2016) and Daegan Fryklind ("Bitten") and direct- ed by Bola Ogun ("On the Run," 2018), Laura Belsey ("The Walking Dead"), Karen Gaviola ("Paper Girls") and Mairzee Almas ("The 100").
